On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, I had the distinct honor of being present at the Georgia Senate Resolution 701 ceremony at the Georgia State Capitol. This resolution formally honored the Georgia Army National Guard, the Georgia Air National Guard, and the Georgia State Defense Force, and recognized February 11, 2026, as National Guard Day at the Capitol.

Since September 11, 2001, more than 35,000 men and women of the Georgia National Guard have deployed around the world in defense of our Nation. In 2025, the Georgia National Guard was nationally recognized as the leading National Guard unit in the country a testament to its readiness, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to service. We have every reason to be thankful and proud of these soldiers and airmen who continue to answer the call to duty.

I was also honored to meet with Deputy Adjutant General Mr. Joe Ferrero to discuss the continued strength, readiness, and partnership between our military forces and the communities they serve.

In addition, the Capitol simultaneously hosted Police Chiefs and Heads of Law Enforcement Agencies Recognition Day. Chiefs from across the state gathered to connect with legislators and highlight the positive impact they are making within their communities.

During this time, I had meaningful conversations focused on the importance of combating gang violence, human trafficking, and sex trafficking Issues that demand continued collaboration, leadership, and action.

Speaking with our Chiefs and engaging in fellowship with Georgia’s law enforcement leaders was both a privilege and an inspiration. I remain proud to support all of our men and women in uniform who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities.

Together, we stand committed to strengthening public safety, defending our state and nation, and building safer communities for future generations.
