Fighting for Georgia’s Seniors: A Promise to Protect and Deliver

For too long, Georgia’s tax system has told our seniors to wait.

Under current law, meaningful retirement tax relief doesn’t begin until age 62 and full benefits not until 65. But the reality is, many hardworking Georgians retire earlier, often in their mid-50s, after decades of service, sacrifice, and contribution to our communities.

That’s why I’m fighting to change it.

I support modernizing Georgia’s retirement tax structure by lowering the eligibility age for relief starting at age 55. My plan introduces a partial retirement income tax exclusion beginning at 55, followed by expanded protections at 62 and beyond.

This is about fairness. It’s about dignity. And it’s about recognizing that retirement doesn’t begin at a one-size-fits-all age.

Our seniors shouldn’t be penalized for retiring after a lifetime of hard work. Whether you’re a veteran, a first responder, a teacher, or a lifelong laborer Georgia should stand with you, not tax you into hardship.

This reform will:

- Provide earlier financial relief for retirees

- Help seniors remain in their homes and communities

- Strengthen Georgia’s reputation as a retirement-friendly state

- Put people before bureaucracy

I will fight to protect our seniors, ease their financial burdens, and ensure that Georgia honors those who built it.

Because in Georgia, we take care of our own.
